A Promising Future
On October 15, 2008, Howard Lunger was informed by Jefferson County Schools that funding had been arranged so that every high school in the district would have an AED in place within the next 12 months. In addition, every school throughout the district would have an AED within the next 3 years. We’d like to think that our efforts thus far had something to do with their decision.

Welcome

The Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Fund was established with two main purposes.

1)   To educate youth organizations and parents about cardiac disorders occurring in youth. Assist in the placement of Automatic External Defibrillators in schools, public buildings, and athletic facilities and work to promote enhanced screening during sports physicals to include EKG tests.  Educate, Save, Screen

2)   To provide scholarships and financial assistance to young persons and organizations that participate in activities that characterized his life, primarily swimming and scouting.

Dan Lunger Memorial Fund offers events, resources and education dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac death in youth and partners with other organizations around the country who share a similar purpose.

“In the event of a cardiac incident, with properly trained responders and an automated external defibrillator (AED) on site, the changes for survival jump from 5% to 75%” – American Heart Association.
