The Daniel J. Lunger Memorial Fund was established with two main purposes.
1) To provide scholarships and financial assistance to young persons and organizations that participate in activities that characterized his life, primarily swimming and scouting.
2) To educate youth organizations and parents about cardiac disorders occurring in youth. Specifically,
Dan’s Fund assists in the placement of Automatic External
Defibrillators in schools, public buildings, and athletic facilities.
A Promising Future
On October 15, 2008, Howard Lunger was informed by Jefferson County Schools that funding had been arranged so that every high school in the district would have an AED in place within the next 12 months. In addition, every school throughout the district would have an AED within the next 3 years. We’d like to think that our efforts thus far had something to do with their decision.
